1976 Granada Ghia Coupé

Over the weekend of 16th/17th December 2000, my wife and I went up to Burton-On-Trent in Staffordshire to collect our 'new' car. It was a 1976 Mark 1 Series 1 Granada Ghia Coupé.

The car was Miami blue with a Marquis grey interior and the original colour-coded wheel trims. Having only covered 36,000 miles since new, it was in excellent original condition, never having been welded or painted. Unfortunately, the fact that it has hardly been used, had caused certain mechanical problems once we I had done a few hundred miles in it.

It had to have a new carb, radiator core, vacuum pipes, exhaust system, prop-shaft coupling, kenlowe fan (the viscous coupling was siezed in the standard one), gearbox modulator (it was sucking transmission fluid into the inlet manifold) and a new set of tyres. But, it was all worth it. It was a pleasure to drive and turned heads wherever we went in it. We kept this car for about 4 years and only did about a thousand more miles in it. I kept having problems with storage and in the end decided it would be better off if we sold it.
